Bee Choo Origin is happy to announce that our 3rd donated dialysis machine has been deployed to benefit patients at the NKF Hougang-Punggol Dialysis Centre. This demonstrates our ongoing commitment in making a positive impact on society through the provision of quality healthcare and support.
The lifespan of a dialysis machine is approximately 7-8 years, which is essential for regular renewal to ensure effective treatment. Each machine is capable of benefiting 6 patients who undergo dialysis 3 times a week, with each session lasting 4-5 hours. To adequately meet the needs for the community, dialysis centers typically require between 14 and 35 machines, depending on their available space.
Here are some striking facts about kidney disease in Singapore:
- Over 300,000 people in Singapore are currently suffering from chronic kidney failure, with many individuals remaining undiagnosed.
- Approximately 6 new patients are diagnosed with kidney disease every day in Singapore.
- There are currently more than 9,000 dialysis patients in Singapore, and NKF is supporting 5,500 of them. This means that NKF supports a staggering 60% of dialysis patients in Singapore, the majority of whom come from low-income families.
By sharing these statistics, we hope to help raise awareness about the daunting statistics and impact of kidney disease in Singapore, at the same time, emphasize the critical role played by organizations like ours in providing essential support to those in need. With all our support, we can make a ripple of change in the lives of dialysis patients and contribute to a healthier and more caring society together!
